Our after-school programs provide students with the resources they need to thrive in their academic studies, excel in school, and develop STEM/IT skills to help them succeed in life.
Tutoring
The public education system in Guatemala is lacking. Poorly equipped and overcrowded schools with insufficient resources means that students often struggle to learn.
Cadaniño teachers asses students needs to provide targeted tutoring helping children reach their grade levels and excel in school.

Computer Training
Our computer training program teaches students tech skills to students who have never had access to computers.
Utilizing a self-learning model of video tutorials and personal exercises, students can learn at their own pace as they advance through typing and office applications. Our program lays a solid foundation and empowers kids to learn for themselves, preparing them for more advanced topics like web development and programming.
Information Technology
We help students develop current IT skills so they can acquire gainful employment enabling them to break the cycles of poverty prevalent amongst impoverished communities in Guatemala.
Students learn web development, Python, Java, C++ and Photoshop through online courses. programs.
STEM
Cadaniño's STEM education uses robotics, electronics, and engineering tools to teach critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills while introducing at-risk students to exciting engineering and computer science career opportunities, helping break cycles of poverty and underemployment. It also improves academic outcomes and prepares students for success in the modern workforce.

Reading
Reading books is uncommon in Guatemala. Many parents read poorly, families have few or no books at home, there are no public libraries, books are expensive and schools generally don't assign students to read.
Since launching our reading initiative during the Covid-19 pandemic, we have created a culture of reading amongst our students. In 2022 they read 1,493 books.
Educational Games
At Cadaniño we strive to make learning fun. Playing board games has a positive impact on a child's development.
It helps enhance problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, and decision-making skills and teaches the importance of order, structure and following rules.

By learning to speak it, students improve their job prospects, increase their social mobility and are given a chance to break cycles of poverty through greater access to educational resources and career opportunities.
