The What, How and Why of Cadaniño

At Cadaniño, our mission is to help people discover, embrace, and cultivate their God-given gifts to their greatest potential as a way to glorify Him in all aspects of their lives.

This is accomplished through after-school enrichment programs at our community impact centers that provide Spiritual Formation, Academic Reinforcement, and Family Strengthening services to vulnerable children and families in the communities where God has called us to serve.

Over time, as the program grew, we saw the need for greater clarity in our mission. We wanted to have 360-degree messaging so that everyone, students, parents, teachers, volunteers, and donors, would have the same understanding of our purpose. This led to refining the What, How and Why of Cadaniño last year that helps keep our team focused on our calling.

What

We help people discover, embrace, and cultivate their God-given gifts to their greatest potential as a way to glorify Him in all aspects of their lives.

We provide a safe space for students to learn at our community centers where they receive classes that enable them to discover and develop their God-given gifts and abilities while meeting their spiritual, educational, and physical needs through:

  • Bible Classes: We teach students to understand God's word so they can have a personal relationship with Him.

  • Tutoring: We offer academic reinforcement classes to help students reach their grade level and excel in school.

  • Computer Training: We take students who have never touched a computer, and teach them relevant IT skills.

  • Coding: We teach coding lessons to help students develop their programming skills.

  • STEM learning: We use robotics, electronics, and engineering tools to teach critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamworking skills while introducing at-risk students to exciting engineering and computer science career opportunities that can break cycles of poverty.

  • Nutritional Assistance: Nutritional meals for students and emergency food services for families ensure the physical development of those we serve.

How

We encourage each individual's God-given gifts and talents while meeting their spiritual, educational, and physical needs and teaching them how to use their abilities to serve others.

This means that there is so much more to our classes than just imparting information; we empower, encourage, and inspire our students.

  • Personal Development: We believe every child is unique and has something special to offer. By focusing on personal development, we help students build self-esteem.

  • Confidence Building: We encourage students to take risks and try learning new things. By doing so, they can develop the confidence they need to succeed in life.

  • Critical Thinking Skills: Our programs are designed to help students develop critical thinking skills. By participating in STEM activities, our students can develop these skills to serve them well in their future academic and professional endeavors.

  • Self-learning: We encourage students to take ownership of their learning and teach them to be self-taught, a skill that will serve them well in life.

  • Empowerment: Our programs are designed to empower students to use their abilities to serve others and positively impact their communities.

  • Personal Relationship with God: We encourage students to develop a personal relationship with God so they can better understand their identity and purpose in life.

  • Service to Others: We encourage students to use their abilities to serve others. By doing so, they live out the Gospel and positively impact their communities.

Why

We believe the Good News of Jesus Christ is truly Good News for all. God does for us what we cannot do for ourselves, equipping us fully to love others as He first loved us.

A true understanding of the Gospel and the love that God has for us is the driving force behind all that we do. It empowers us to persevere in serving those who are hurt, lost, struggling, and desperate. Regardless of the obstacles and challenges we face working in hard places we hold fast to the following truths:

  • God's Love: We believe God loves all people, regardless of their background or circumstances.

  • Forgiveness: We believe that through Jesus Christ, all people can receive forgiveness for their sins.

  • Salvation: We believe that through faith in Jesus Christ, all people can be saved and have eternal life.

  • Transformation: We believe that through the power of the Holy Spirit, all people can be transformed and become more like Jesus.

  • Service to Others: We believe that as followers of Jesus, we are called to love and serve others as He first loved us.

This well-defined vision not only unifies our team but provides clarity to all our stakeholders so students, parents, staff, and donors have a clearer understanding of what our purpose is and how we work to accomplish it.

By explicitly outlining the essence of our mission, the methods of our engagement, and the core beliefs that drive us, we ensure that every aspect of our work aligns with our ultimate goal: glorify God through evangelizing, empowering and uplifting the vulnerable.

The 'What', 'How', and 'Why' have become instrumental in keeping us centered on our calling, effective in our ministry, and are magnifying our impact.

Please keep us in your prayers as we navigate the complexities of serving well in challenging environments.

Pray that we can remain unwavering in our commitment to our guiding principles so that we respond effectively to immediate needs while fostering long-term, transformative change and that Cadaniño will continue to stand as a beacon of hope and a testament to the power of faith, love, and service in action in the communities where we serve.
